Newsletter, Valentine's Day, 2014: Love is in our name!

  e-News - Valentine’s Day, 2014

Village of Love is so-called because it begins with LOVE. Out of the love in their hearts families in Kibera take in orphaned children, sacrificing to give them a better life. Often a family will eat only once a day in order to enable their children to go to school.

Now They Dare to Dream!

Their mother died and their father abandoned them. The 7 children could not imagine anything good for themselves. Now Winnie(8) dreams of being a doctor, Shaddy(10) a banker and Samwel(11) an engineer. Their brother, Joshua (13), who sees maths as “the key to life,” dreams of being a pilot. Living now with their Aunt and seven cousins, they have found love and belonging again. They feel wanted. And they dare to dream….

When parents cannot provide food, they are stressed and irritable. Children know to stay away! To eat, they must forage in the garbage or beg. But food on the table brings the children home after school. The family gathers. There is laughter and love.  We provide that food through micro-loans…

Love of Jewellery Funds Orphan Care

Sue delights in beautiful things. She loves to browse yard sales and second hand stores to pick up attractive jewellery, both vintage and contemporary. She sells her treasures and donates the profits to family-based orphan care.
