Wheels of Africa gives Village of Love Twenty Bikes!

“The Village” - May 2012

Salome visits kibera, small web.jpgSalome Githuku, a Village of Love Canada Advisory Board member, has just returned from a trip to Kenya. She spent a day in Kibera meeting Village of Love beneficiaries. “They are all so proud,” she says, “to be part of this organization.”
Salome visited with Agripina at her fruit and vegetable stall. Agripina has always struggled to feed her four children, (two biological and two orphaned). She now declares proudly that no one in her household goes to bed hungry.
What has made this difference? Agripina received a microloan through Village of Love. Now her neighbours see that she is employed at her business every day. This increases her credit worthiness. If, for example, she does not sell anything all day, a neighbour will be willing to give her some food, knowing that Agripina will be able to repay the next day.

AIDS Ride for Africa

TORONTO: Sunday, June 17th, 10 am.
AIDSride4africa logo.jpgThe wheels are beginning to turn as Riders are registering and fundraising for Village of Love!
It’s not too late to join us for an easy 10 km ride along the Lakeshore, with an after-ride barbecue in High Park. Meet like-minded people, enjoy fun exercise, bring the whole family, and RAISE FUNDS for orphaned children. Ride in the Village of Love Team!
OUR GOAL: At least 50 Riders; to raise $15,000
To register as a rider, go to RIDE. ALL amounts raised, large and small are important and welcome.
If you are not able to Ride, please support the Village of Love Team with a donation: DONATE.
No amount is too small or too big! It all adds up, and we know that the beneficiaries will get maximum mileage out of every dollar!
Please share with your friends and social networks this opportunity to raise funds for orphaned children! Invite your friends to join our FaceBook Event. Click on icon in the right hand column.

BIKES GALORE!

kijiji bike donation, andrew tries out bike, SMALL WEB.jpg“Wheels of Africa” have kindly donated to Kijiji Cha Upendo 20 bicycles! In the picture on the left, Andrew Obara is test riding a donated bike, observed by Kijiji Board member, Ambrose Gandi, and the “Wheels for Africa” administrator.

The bicycles have been distributed. In Fanice’s household, the bicycle is a now a treasured item. However, it has to be hung on the wall when not in use, since floor space in her tiny home is scarce! Read MORE

New!

Now you can designate your Village of Love dollars specifically towards “education.” When you make an online donation, there will be an “education” box to check. Whatever amount you donate, your dollars will contribute towards a child’s being in school. For information on sponsoring a child to go to school, click HERE.

Currently, eight children have qualified for Secondary School, but are not able to register for lack of fees. Please encourage your faith group, club, team, group of friends to get together to sponsor a child to go to school!
With your year-end tax deductible gift, orphaned children will have a chance at life!
Thank you for your ongoing support!
